Introduction
Thl.s report concerns award of b1d to furnish and deliver one (1) new
CNG-powered 20,000 pound Gross Vehicle Welght Rated low profl.le dump
truck for the Parks and Sports Divis1on, Community and Cultural
SerVl.ces Department, in the total amount of $40,532.05, including
applicable sales tax.
Backqround
In response to publl.shed Notl.ces Inviting Bids (published March 22 and
23, 1994) to furnish and deliver one (1) new CNG-powered, 20,000 pound
gross vehicle weight rated low profile dump truck, in accordance wl.th
City specifications, blds were recelved and publlcly opened and read on
Aprll 12, 1994.
Proposal forms were mal.led to fifteen vendors and
notices were advertised in accordance wl.th City Charter and Munl.cipal
code provislons. Three proposals were recelved as follows:

This veh~cle will be used in the ma~ntenance program of the City's
Parks and Recreation facilities.
City specifications requested bids
for a CNG-powered veh~cle.
All three bidders subm~tted bids for a
gasoline-powered vehicle which does not meet speclficatlons.
Only one bldder submitted a b~d for a CNG-powered vehicle
Staff has
evaluated the bid subm2tted by Carmenita Truck Center for a CNG-powered
veh~cle and f~nds that lt meets City spec~ficatiQns. This purchase is
conslstent with the C2ty'S Reduced Emission Fuel Policy.
Budcret/Financlal Impact
Fiscal Year 1993-94 appropriation authorlty for this purchase is in the
Parks and Sports Division, Community and Cultural Services Department,
account number 01-400-511-00000-8806-00000.
Recommendation
Staff recommends Council reJect all gasoline-powered bids for falling
to meet C~ty speclflcations. It is recommended that the award of Bid
#2487 be made to Carmenita Truck Center for a CNG-powered vehicle, in
the amount of $40,532.05, ~ncluding applicable taxes, as the best
bidder.
