A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DECLARING
THE EXISTENCE OF A CONTINUING LOCAL EMERGENCY
WHEREAS I on January 17, 1994, an earthquake struck Southern
California causing severe damage within the City of Santa Monica;
and
WHEREAS, on January 17, 1994, as a result of the earthquake
the City'S Director of Emergency Services issued a declaration of
local emergency; and
WHEREAS, on January 17, 1994, as a result of the earthquake a
state of emergency was declared in the County of Los Angeles by the
federal, state and county governments; and
WHEREAS, as a result of the earthquake a state of local
emergency continues to exist within the City of Santa Monica,
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Santa Monica
does resolve and proclaim as follows:
SECTION 1. The city Council declares that a state of local
emergency continues to exist within the city of Santa Monica.
SECTION 2. The city council directs the Director of Emergency
services or his or her designee to take such actions as are
appropriate to the fullest extent provided by federal, state and

Converslcn meets the requ~rements of Article XX of the Clty Charter
and tnat the proposed. subd~VlSlon is consistent W1.th appl1.cable
general and spec~fic plap-s as adopted by the City of Santa Mon~ca
along wlth all mandatory requlrements of the Subd~vlsion Map Act of
the State of CaL:_forn~a .
The owners have submltted to the City a Wr~tten Consent Agreement
bi~dlng the owners and any successors ~n interest to each condlt1on

Attorney and the Clty Manager. Each partlclpatlng tenant has been

have been f:1ade to ensure payment of the Te~anc-Partlclpatlng
Converslon Tax.

conve~Slon ~ax per Sect10n 2008 of Article xx 15 due In an amount
equal to twelve tlmes the mo~t~ly maXlmum allowable rent for that

ate budget or fiscal impact. If and as unlts lD the proJect are
sold In the futurer Tenant-Particlpat2ng Converslon Taxes wlll be
collected pursuant to the provlsions of Article XX of the Cl::Y
Charter and some increased property tax revenues may be generated.
