Introduction
This report concerns award of bid to furnish and deliver two (2)
New and Unused Low Profile, 20,000 Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) Cab
and Chassis with Dump Body for the Parks and Tree Maintenance
Divisions, Cultural and Recreation Services Department, in the
total amount of $69,449.96, including applicable sales tax.
Background
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (pUblished
August 29 and 30, 1991) to furnish and deliver two (2) new and
unused low prOfile, 20,000 GVW cab and chassis with dump body in
accordance with City specifications, bids were received and
publicly opened and read on September 17, 1991. Proposal forms
were mailed to twenty-one vendors and notices were advertised in
accordance with city Charter and Municipal

staff has evaluated the low bid for a propane powered vehicle and
finds that it meets City specifications.
A propane powered
rather than gasoline powered vehicle is recommended as part of
the City's program to improve air quality.
BUdget/Financial Impact
Fiscal Year 1991/92 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the Parks Division,
Cultural and Recreation Services
Department, account number 01-400-511-00000-8806-00000 in the
amount of $34,724.98, and Tree Maintenance Division, Cultural and
Recreation Services Department, account number 01-400-512-00000-
8806-00000 in the amount of $34,724.98.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2373 be made to Thorson
GMC Buick in the total amount of $69,449.96, including applicable
tax, as the lowest and best bidder.
