Resolution Establishing Two parking Zones for the

Introduction
This report recommends that the City Council approve the attached
resolution to establish two parking zones for the physically
handicapped adjacent to 1431 Ocean Avenue.
Background
On May 27, 1980, the city Council adopted an ordinance to enable
the
establishment
zones
for
the
physically
parking
of
handicapped. Under this ordinance such a zone may be established
by resolution of the city Council upon request by an individual
and verification by the city Parking and Traffic Engineer.
staff has received a request from residents for the installation
of physically handicapped zone adjacent to 1431 Ocean Avenue.
staff has reviewed the request and finds that the zone meets all
the appropriate requirements.

BUdget/Financial Impact
There will be a loss of approximately $1,500.00 annually due to
the removal of two parking meters on Ocean Avenue. For FY 91/91
the loss is estimated to be $1100.00
Recommendation
It is recommended that the City Council:
1. Adopt the attached resolution establishing a parking zone for
the physically handicapped adjacent to 1431 Ocean Avenue; and
2. Decrease Revenue Account No. 01-210-415-00000-0030-10000 by
$1100.00 for FY 91/92.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA MONICA ESTABLISHING TWO PHYSICALLY HANDICAPPED
PARKING ZONES ADJACENT TO 1431 OCEAN AVENUE
WHEREAS, the city Council of the City of Santa
Monica has enacted an ordinance enabling individuals to request
parking zones for physically handicapped person; and
WHEREAS, the city has received a request for
parking zones for the physically handicapped; and
WHEREAS, the parking and Traffic Engineer has
considered the requests and concluded, based upon the factors
stated in Municipal Code Section 3366A, that a physically
handicapped zone may be installed at the requested locations,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.. That two zones for the physically
handicapped are hereby established adjacent to 1431 Ocean Avenue.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the
same shall be in full force and effect.
