Subject: Resolution Establishing Parking Zones for the
Physically Handicapped Adjacent to 823 19th street,
2516 26th street, and l230 Georgina Avenue
Introduction
This report recommends that the City council approve the attached
resolution to establish parking zones for the physically
handicapped adjacent to 823 19th street, 2516 26th street, and
l230 Georgina Avenue.
Background
On May 27, 1980, the city Council adopted an ordinance to enable
the establishment of parking zones for the physically
handicapped. Under this ordinance such a zone may be established
by resolution of the City Council upon request by an individual
and verification by the City Parking and Traffic Engineer.
staff has received three requests for the installation of
physically handicapped zones as follows:
l) A resident is requesting installation of a parking zone
for the physically handicapped adjacent to 823 19th street,
2) A resident is requesting installation of a parking zone
for the physically handicapped adjacent to 2516 26th street,

3) A resident is requesting installation of a parking zone
for the physically handicapped adjacent to 1230 Georgina
Avenue.
Staff has reviewed the requests and finds that the zones meet all
the appropriate requirements.
BUdget/Financial Impact
-There is no budget or financial impact resulting from this
request.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the city council adopt the attached
resolution establishing a parking zone for the physically
handicapped adjacent to 823 19th street, 2516 26th Street, and
1230 Georgina Avenue.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA MONICA ESTABLISHING PHYSICALLY HANDICAPPED
ZONES ADJACENT TO 823 19TH STREET, 2516 26TH STREET,
AND 1230 GEORGINA AVENUE
WHEREAS, the city Council of the City of Santa
Monica has enacted an ordinance enabling individuals to request
parking zones for physically handicapped persons; and
WHEREAS, the City has received requests for
parking zones for the physically handicapped; and
WHEREAS, the Parking and Traffic Engineer has
considered the requests and concluded, based upon the factors
stated in Municipal Code section 3366A, that physically
handicapped zones may be installed at the requested locations,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1- A zone for the physically handicapped
is hereby established adjacent to 823 19th Street.
SECTION 2. A zone for the physically handicapped
~s hereby established adjacent to 2516 26th street.
SECTION 3. A zone for the physically handicapped
is hereby established adjacent to 1230 Georgina Avenue.

SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the
same shall be in full force and effect.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA AMENDING SANTA MONICA
MUNICIPAL CODE SECTION 32380 RELATING TO
PREFERENTIAL PARKING ZONE 0
WHEREAS, the Parking and Traffic Engineer has received a
petition requesting nighttime preferential parking on
Twenty-First and Twenty-Second streets between wilshire Boulevard
and California Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the petitions have been verified to be signed by
residents living in two-thirds of the dwelling units comprising
not less than fifty percent (50%) of the developed frontage of
the proposed preferential parking zone; and
WHEREAS, the Parking and Traffic Engineer has undertaken
such studies and surveys deemed necessary to determine whether
Preferential Parking Zone 0 should be expanded to include
nighttime preferential parking; and
WHEREAS, the City Council is satisfied that the proposed
expansion meets the designation criteria set forth in Municipal
Code Section 3232A,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Santa Monica Municipal Code Section 32380 is
amended to read as follows:
