SUBJECT' Ballot Order of CandIdates and Measures
IntroductIon
ThIs report transmIts a recommendatIon for holding of a dra~ing
at the Council Meeting to be held January 23, 1979 to determIne
the ballot order of candIdates and ~easures for the General
MunIcIpal ElectIon to be held AprIl 10, 1979.
Background
Santa MonIca tfunlcipal Code Section 11214 (copy enclosed)
provIdes for a drawing to be accomplIshed at a regular CIty
CouncIl Meeting not later than 75 days before the electIon.
To determIne the order In whIch candidates WIll appear on the
ballot) 26 SlIpS of paper) each bearing a letter of the alphabet,
WIll be placed In a box, drawn one at a tIme and called out.
To determIne the ballot order of each measure, the title of each
measure will be written on a pIece Df paper and placed in a box
and drawn out one at a time. Each wIll appear on the ballot In
the order drawn.
RecommendatIon
It IS recommended that the drawing be accomplIshed at the CouncIl
MeetIng to be held on January 23, 1979.
