On that date Councl1 passed a resolutlon alterlng the method of reimbursement of CommlSSlon related expenses from a flat $25 per meetlng (with a maximum of $50 per month) to a reimbursement mechanism for chl1dcare and other expenses directly related to commlSS1on activities. Several Commissloners appeared at the September 20, meetlng requesting the opportunity to review the staff recommendations and the opportunlty to respond verbally or in writing to the proposed changes. Subsequently copies of the staff report were distrlbuted to members of all Clty boards and commissions wlth a request for comments. On December 6, 1983 Council held a ]Olnt meetlng wlth members of Clty boards and commlSSlons the purpose of whlch was to promote communication between members of CiDJ boards and commisslons, standardize commlSS1on procedures through the distribution of a 5-&- ~..1~ ~~' ".t.t ~...-..,. ~..- . . cornrnlSSlon handbook, and review various recornmendatlons put forward in the attached staff report. In addltion, the lrnportance of workplans was stressed as a cornrnunlcatlon and planning mechanlsm. CornmlSSlons and boards have been requested to SUbmlt workplan Ob]ectlves and budget requests by late February to cOlncide with the overall development of City department budgets and obJectives for fiscal year 1984-85.
