SR-8-B (90) 88 NOV 1 .. 1995 CA:f:atty\muni\strpts\mjm\socserv city council Meeting 11-14-95 Santa Monica, California TO: Mayor and City Council FROM: City Attorney SUBJECT: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA AMENDING SANTA MONICA MUNICIPAL CODE SECTION 2.60.020 TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF MEMBERS ON THE SOCIAL SERVICES COMMISSION FROM SEVEN TO NINE INTRODUCTION At its meeting on November 7, 1995, the City Council introduced for first reading an ordinance amending Santa Monica Municipal Code section 2.60.020 to increase the number of members on the Social Services Commission from seven to nine. The ordinance is now presented to the City Council for adoption. RECOMMENDATION It is respectfully recommended that the accompanying ordinance be adopted. Santa Monica Municipal Code Section 2.60.020 is amended to read as follows: SECTION 2.60.020. Creation of Social Services Commission. Pursuant to Section 1000 of the City Charter, a Social Services Commission is hereby created. The Commission shall consist of nine (9) members and shall be appointed by the city Council. The commission and commissioners shall be subject to all the terms of Article X of the City Charter setting forth procedures for appointment of Commissioners, terms and meetings. 1
