Introductlon
ThlS report concerns award of bid to Furnish and deliver two new
CNG-powered 1996 Ford Crown Victoria's for the Water Dlvlslon,
Environmental and Public Works Management Department, ln the total
amount of $48,029.85, lncludlng applicable sales and tax.
Backqround
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids {publlshed November
10-13, 1995} to furnish and dellver two (2 ) new CNG-powered 1996
Ford Crown Vlctorla's ln accordance with City speclflcatlons, bids
were recelved and publlcly opened and read on November 28,1995.
Proposals forms were mailed to eleven (11) vendors and notices were
advertlsed ln accordance with City Charter and Municipal Code
provisions. Two (2 ) proposals were recelved as follows:

Both vehlcles wlll be used by supervlsory personnel of the Water
D1VlSlon to respond to crlses durlng and after business hours The
purchase of these CNG powered vehlcles 1.S consistent with the
City's reduced emissions fuels policy.
Staff has evaluated the low bid and finds that It meets Clty
speciflcatlons.
Budget!Financlal Impact
Flscal year 1995-96 appropriation authority for thlS purchase lS in
the Water Division, Environmental and Publ1.c Works Management
Department [ account number 25-500-671-00000-8806-00000.
Recorrmendation
It is recommended that the award of Bld #2553 be made to Downey
Auto Center In the total amount of $48,029.85 lncluding applicable
tax, as the lowest bidder.
