Introduction
Thls report concerns award of bid to furnlsh and deliver s~x
hundred (600) tons of high performance asphalt cold mix for the
Water Division, Environmental and Publ~c Works
Management Department, at specified unit price, lncluding
appllcable sales tax, and a one-year renewal option.
Backqround
In response to published Not~ces Inv~t~ng Bids (published December
8, thru December 12, 1995) to furnish and del~ver six hundred
(600) tons of high performance asphalt cold mix in accordance with
City specifications, blds were received and publ~cly opened and
read on December 28, 1995. Proposal forms were mailed to two (2 )
vendors and not~ces were advertised in accordance wlth City Charter
and Munlcipal Code provisions. Two proposals were received as
follows:

Absolute Asphalt, Inc $ 69.50
The cold mix paving materials will be used to repair damage to
all C1ty streets and alleys as needed.
Staff has evaluated the low bid and finds that it meets City
specifications.
Budqet/Financial Impact
Fiscal Year 1995-96 appropriation authority for thls purchase lS
in the Capital Improvement, Budget Program Department, account
number 25-760-671-20096-8900-99136, "Water Main Upgrades. II
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2557 be made to Unique
Paving Materials of Callforn~a, Inc. , at specified price plus
applicable tax, as the lowest and most responsible bidder, with a
one-year renewal option.
