This report recommends award of bid to furnish, deliver and Install diesel emergency
generators for the Economic Development DIvISion, Resource Management Department,
In the total amount of $40,621 21, Including applicable sales tax
Backaround
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published May 13 and 14, 1999) In
accordance WIth City specifications, bids were received and publicly opened and read on
June1,1999 Proposal forms were mailed to seven vendors and notices were advertised
In accordance With City Charter and MUnicipal Code prOVIsions Three proposals were
received as follows

These generators will provide emergency back-up power on the Santa Monica Pier for the
Police Pier Substation, Harbor Office, Public Restrooms, Pier Deck Parking Lot and Bike
Path They will replace eXIsting rented emergency generators
The bid submitted by Village Electric, Inc IS non-responsive because they failed to Include
rn theIr bId the Make/Model, Year, Extended Warranty, Matenals and One-Year ServIce
Contract costs of the generators as reqUired by City specifications Staff has evaluated
the bid submItted by Guardian Power Protection Services, Inc and finds that It meets City
specifications
