Introduction
Th IS report recommends that the City CouncIl authorize the City Manager to negotiate and
execute a mod Iflcatlon to the professional services contract with CH2M HIli, I nc In an
amount not to exceed $180.000 for engineering support services durrng the construction
of the Dry Weather Runoff Reclamation Facility (OWRRF) - Phases J & II
Backqround
On April 7. 1997. the City contracted with CH2M Hill to prepare the architectural and
englneerrng documents required for construction ofthe Dry Weather Runoff ReclamatIon
Facility ThiS facilIty Will treat low flow runoff from the Plco-Kenter and Santa Monica Pier
storm drains and reuse the disinfected water for applications such as Irrlgatrng freeway,
park and cemetery landscaping The facIlity Will reduce pollution entenng the Santa
MOnica Bay and raise public awareness about thiS Important environmental Issue The
design of the facIlity IS complete The Arts Commission. the Architectural RevIew Board,
the Coastal Commission. and City CounCil reviewed and approved the design In 1998

Phase I of the project Involves construction of the plant and the Plco-Kenter and Pier
Storm Drain Influent lines Phase II mcludes construction of the recycled water pumps and
distribution system The estimated construction cost of the project IS $7,500,000 The
total duration of construction for both phases IS 12-14 months
