Introduction
This report recommends rejection of bid to furnish and deliver one urban search and
rescue apparatus for the FIre Department
Background
In response to published Notices Invltmg Bids (published November 30 and December 1,
1998) In accordance with City specIfIcatIOns, bids were received and publicly opened and
read on December 28, 1998 Proposal forms were mailed to eleven vendors and notices
were advertised In accordance with City Charter and MUniCipal Code provISions One
proposal was received as follows

The bid received from Super Vacuum Manufacturing Co, Inc was found to be
approximately 15% greater than the FIre Department had budgeted In this fIscal year In
order to ensure fair and open competition, staff wIll re-evaluate bid specifications and
research the open market for other possible bidders

Recommendation
It IS recommended that the award of Bid #2736 submitted by Super Vacuum
Manufacturing Co , Inc be rejected and staff be directed to re-evaluate bid specifIcations,
