IS a sister city to the City of Santa MOnica. The Mazatlan Fire Department IS an all volunteer organization that operates with limited resources The City of Santa Monica has In the past donated surplus fire equipment and apparatus to the Mazatlan FIre Department through the Sister Cities Program In1991, fire hydrants were delivered and In 1993 radio eqUipment was donated to the Mazatlan Fire Department The Santa Monica FIre Department has recently received delivery of new fire trucks 1 NOY 1 5 199It 6G replacmg our first-line vehicles The number of reserve vehIcles will remam the same and the oldest umts will be taken out of service. Of those units to be taken out of service a 1980 Crown - 75' Telesqulrt Vm/Senal #F1826, City Vehicle #14013, Fire Department Vehicle #Shop 201 has been earmarked for donation to the Mazatlan Fire Department The Mazatlan Fire Department has expressed a desire for this eqUipment This donation would slgmflcantly mcrease the ability of the volunteer fire department to service the community of Mazatlan The Mazatlan FIre Department Will take delivery of the truck In Santa MOnica BUDGET/FINANCIAL IMPACT There IS no significant budget/financial Impact RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends that the City Council authonze the City Manager to negotiate and execute an agreement donating the surplus fire vehicle to the Volunteer Fire Department m Mazatlan.
