SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bld to Furnlsh and Deliver
Curbslde Recycling Contalners, Bld #2510
Introduction
This report concerns awara of bid to furnlsh and dellver curbslde
~ecycling containers for the Recycling Divislon, Envlronmental and
Public Works Management Department, at speclfied unlt prlces, plus
appl~cable sales tax.
Background
In response to publlshed Notlces Invitlng Blds (publlshed August 23
and 24, 1994) to furnlsh and dellver curbSlde recycllng containers,
ln accordance with Clty speclflcatlons, bids were received and
publlcly opened and read on September 8, 1994. Proposal forms were
malled to four vendors and notlces were advertised lTI accordance
wlth Clty Charter and Municipal Code provls~ons. Four proposals
were received as follows:

augment ~he contalners currently In use.
The blds submltted by A-I Products Corporation, Recycleit
Corporatlon, and Tulip Corporatlon are non-responsive. A-I
Products and Recyclelt Corporation old not old the Slze container
specified. The contalner quoted by Tulip Corporation is non-
stackable and does not have open handles as requlred in the City
speclfications.
Staff has evaluated the Old submltted by Rehrig Corporation and
finds that It meets Clty speclflcatlons.
Budqet!Financlal Impact
Flscal Year 1994-95 approprlatlon authorlty for this purchase lS in
the Recycling Dlvision, Envlronmental & Publlc Works Management
Department, account number 27-500-443-00000-4401-00000.
Recommendation
It l8 recommended that Councll reJect the bids submitted by A-I
Products Company, Recyclelt Corporation, and Tulip Corporation
because they do not meet City speclflcations. It is recommended
that the award of Bid #2510 be made to Rehr~g Paclflc Corporatlon
at speclfled unlt prlces plus appllcable sales tax, as the most
responslble bldder.
