SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish and Deliver 2
cubic Yard Metal Refuse Containers, Bid #2461
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid to furnish and deliver 2 Cubic
Yard Metal Refuse Containers for the Solid Waste Management
Division, General Services Department, at specified unit prices,
plus applicable sales tax for a one year period.
Background
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published June 2
and 3, 1993) to furnish and deliver 2 cubic yard metal refuse
containers in accordance with City specifications, bids were
received and publicly opened and read on June 17, 1993. Proposal
forms were mailed to two vendors and notices were advertised in
accordance with City Charter and Municipal Code provisions. Two
proposals were received as follows:

The city currently has approximately 4,000 metal refuse
containers in circulation.
As these age and outlive their
repairability, there is a need to replace them. This is achieved
through incremental purchases of new containers in varying
quantities.
staff has evaluated the low bid submitted by Consolidated
Fabricators Corp. and finds it meets City specifications.
BUdget/Financial Impact
Fiscal Year 1993/94 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the Solid Waste Management Division, General Services
Department, account number 27-500-441-00000-4427-00000.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2461 be made to
Consolidated Fabricators Corp. at specified unit prices I plus
applicable sales tax, as the lowest and best bidder.
