SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish and Deliver
Butterfly Valves, Bid #2456
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid to furnish and deliver
butterfly valves for the Water Division, General Services
Department, at specified unit prices, plus applicable sales tax.
Background
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published June 2
and 3, 1993) to furnish and deliver butterfly valves in
accordance with City specifications, bids were received and
publicly opened and read on June 17, 1993. Proposal forms were
mailed to ten vendors and notices were advertised in accordance

This bid covers the replacement of nine (9) motor operated valves
at the Arcadia Water Plant. Existing valves are leaking and the
parts to repair the valves are no longer available.
The bid submitted by Davis Taylor Jett is non-responsive. They
are not offering the same or equal equipment and the equipment
they are Offering does not meet city specifications.
staff has evaluated the bid submitted by Valve Systems & Controls
and finds it meets City specifications.

Recommendation
staff recommends council reject the bid submitted by Davis Taylor
Jett which was non-responsive and award Bid #2456 to Valve
Systems & Controls at specified unit prices, plus applicable tax,
as the best bidder.
