SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish and Deliver One
( 1) New 3/4 Ton Pickup Truck, Bid #2476
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid to furnish and deliver one (1)
new 3/4 ton pickup truck for the Water Division, General services
Department, in the total amount of $20,851, including applicable
sales tax.
Background
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published October
28 - 29, 1993) to furnish and deliver one (1) new 3/4 ton pickup
truck in accordance with City specifications, bids were received
and publicly opened and read on November 18, 1993. Proposal
forms were mailed to sixteen vendors and notices were advertised
in accordance with city Charter and Municipal Code provisions.
Three proposals were received as follows:
CNG Powered
Santa Monica Ford $20,851.00
Downey Auto Center $21,211. 59
Thorson Olds, Buick, GMC $23,706.00

This unit will be utilized by the Water Supervisor/meters to
review work in progress at various City sites. The purchase of
this CNG powered vehicle is consistent with the city's reduced
emission fuels policy.
Staff has evaluated the low bid and finds that it meets City
specifications.
BUdget/Financial Impact
Fiscal Year 1993-94 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the Water Division, General Services Department, account
number 25-500-671-00000-8806-00000,
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2476 be made to Santa
Monica Ford in the total amount of $20,851.00, including
applicable tax, as the lowest and best bidder.
