SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish and Deliver One
(1 ) 33,000 pound Gross Vehicle Weight Rated (GVWR) Cab
and Chassis with Special Sewer Jetter Body, Bid #2475
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid to furnish and deliver one (1)
33,000 GVWR cab and chassis with special sewer j etter body for
the Wastewater Division, General Services Department, in the
total amount of $97,035.30, including applicable sales tax.
Background
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published October
25 - 26, 1993) to furnish and deliver one ( 1) 33,000 GVWR Cab and
Chassis with Special Sewer Jetter Body in accordance with city
specifications, bids were received and publicly opened and read
on November 15, 1993. Proposal forms were mailed to ten vendors
and notices were advertised in accordance with City charter and
Municipal Code provisions. Three proposals were received as
follows:

This sewer jetter will be used for high pressure sewer flushing
and the removal of debris from the city's sewer lines. The
purchase of this vehicle is consistent with the city's reduced
emission fuels policy for in that it is not required to use
reduced emission fuels because it is considered a specialty
vehicle. All specialty vehicles were exempt from the reduced
emission fuel policy because they could not be configured to
accept a reduced emission fuel. Moreover, this vehicle is not
available in any other alternate fuel types.
Staff has evaluated the low bid and finds that it meets City
specifications.
BUdget/Financial Impact
Fiscal Year 1993-94 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the Capital Improvement Program budget, account numbers
31-760-661-20093-8900-99361 ($90,000) "Purchase Sewer Jetter,"
and in account number 31-760-661-20093-8900-99362 ($7/035.30)

Recommendation
It is reconunended that the award of Bid #2475 be made to
Carmen ita Truck Center in the total amount of $97,035.30,
including applicable tax, as the lowest and best bidder.
