SUBJECT: Recommendation to A\vard Bid to Furnish and Deliver
One (1) New Loader Backhoe, Bid #2484
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid to furnish and deliver one (1)
new Loader Backhoe for the Street Maintenance Division, General
Services Department, ln the total amount of $38,860.00, including
applicable sales tax.
Background
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published
February 2 and 3 , 1994) to furnlsh and deliver one ( 1) Loader
Backhoe in accordance vi i th City specificationst bids were
received and publicly opened and read on February 22, 1994.
Proposal forms viere mailed to five vendors and notices were
advertlsed in accordance Vlith city Charter and Municipal Code
provisions. Four proposals were received as follows:

This vehicle will he utilized by the street Maintenance Division
for general to heavy digging, loading and excavating of public
streets, curbs, alley ways and s idevJa lks . The purchase of this
diesel powered veh1cle 1S consistent vJ i th the City's reduced
emission fuels policy. It is not required to use reduced
em1ssion fuels because 1t is considered a specialty vehicle. All
speclalty vehicles Here exempt from the reduced emission fuel
policy because they could not be conflgured to accept a reduced
emission fuel.
Staff has evaluated the low bid and finds that it meets City
specifications.
Budget/Financial Impact
Fiscal Year 1993-94 appropriatlon authority for this purchase is
in the street Ma1ntenance Divis1on, General Services Department,
account number 01-500-421-00000-8801-00000.

Recommendation
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2484 be made to
Contractors Equipment Co. In the total amount of $38,860.00,
including applicable tax, as the lowest and best bidder.
