SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish and Deliver 14
New Police Sedans, Bid #2481
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid to furnish and deliver 14 new
police sedans for the Administrative services Division, Police
Department, in the total amount of $208,032.69, including ap-
plicable sales tax.
Background
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published Decem-
ber 21 and 22, 1993) to furnish and deliver 14 new and unused
police interceptor sedans in accordance with City specifications,
bids were received and publicly opened and read on January 14,
1994. Proposal forms were mailed to fourteen vendors and notices
were advertised in accordance with city Charter and Municipal
Code provisions. Nine proposals were received as follows:

These vehicles will be replacing 1988 through 1990 model year
Police vehicles with excessive mileage.
This purchase is consistent with the City's reduced emissions
fuel policy which states that vehicles with special purposes will
be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and will be purchased ac-
cordingly. Two of the fourteen vehicles will be converted to
dual fuel (gasoline/CNG) after delivery.

specifications.
BUdget/Financial Impact
Fiscal Year 1993/94 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the Administrative Services Division, Police Department, ac-
count number 01-300-304-00000-8806-00000.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2481 be made to Bob
Baker Ford in the total amount of $208,032.69, including ap-
plicable sales tax, as the lowest and best bidder.
