SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish and Deliver
One ( 1) New and Unused 15,000 Gross Vehicle Weight
Rated (GVWR) Cab and Chassis with Sewer Rodder Type
Body, Bid #2399
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid to furnish and deliver one (1)
new and unused 15,000 GVWR cab and chassis with sewer redder type
body for the Wastewater Division, General Services Department, in
the total amount of $53,532.69, including applicable sales tax.
Background
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published
February 28, 1992 and March 2, 1992) to furnish and deliver
ene ( 1) new and unused 15,000 GVWR cab and chassis with sewer
redder type body in accordance with City specifications, bids
were received and publicly opened and read on March 17, 1992.
Proposal forms were mailed to twenty-six vendors and notices were
advertised in accordance with City Charter and Municipal Code
provisions. Three proposals were received as follows:

Peck Road Ford $54,389.96
Thorson Old's Buick GMC, Inc. $56,937.34
This unit replaces a ten (lO) year old vehicle and will be used
for waste line maintenance. It will be gasoline powered and
staff intends to convert it to Compressed Natural Gas as soon as
a local fueling station is available. It is anticipated that the
local fueling station will be completed in about six months.
staff has evaluated the low bid and finds that it meets City
specifications.
BUdget/Financial Impact
Fiscal Year 1991/92 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the Capital Improvement Budget, Sewer and Water Category,
account number 31-760-661-20092-8900-99302.
Reconnnendation
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2399 be made to
SRECQ-Flexible in the total amount of $53,532.69, including
applicable tax, as the lowest and best bidder.
