SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish and Deliver
One (1) New and Unused 27-passenger Bus Including
Two (2) Internal Wheelchair Spaces, Bid #2409
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid to furnish and deliver one (I)
new and unused 27-passenger bus including two (2) internal
wheelchair spaces for the Recreation Division, Cultural and
Recreation Services Department, in the total amount of
$174,375.05, including applicable sales tax.
Background
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published
April 13 and 14, 1992) to furnish and deliver one (1) new and
unused 27-passenger bus including two (2) internal wheelchair
spaces in accordance with City specifications, bids were received
and publicly opened and read on May 8, 1992. Proposal forms were
mailed to seven vendors and notices were advertised in accordance
with City Charter and Municipal Code provisions. Two proposals
were received as follows:
Diesel Powered
El Dorado National Coach $174,375.05
Chance Coach $l74,823.00

This unit will be used to transport youth to various programs and
events. It is currently manufactured to use only diesel fuel
(alternate fuel vehicles are not available at this time).
staff has evaluated the low bid and finds that it meets city
specifications.
BUdget/Financial Impact
Fiscal Year 1991/92 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the Recreation Division, Cultural and Recreation Services
Department, account number 01-400-539-00000-8801-00000. The
purchase will be financed with Proposition A funds from the
Los Angeles County Transportation Commission.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2409 be made to
El Dorado National Coach in the total amount of $174,375.05,
including applicable tax, as the lowest and best bidder.
