SUBJECT Recommendation to Award Bid to Repaint Sunscreen and Exterior Walls of
the CIVIC Auditorium, Bid #2726
Introduction
This report recommends award of bid to proVide labor and materials to repaint the
sunscreen and exterior walls of the CIVIC Auditorium for the Event FaCIlities DIVISion,
Community and Cultural Services Department, In the total amount of $39,183, Including
applicable sales tax
Backaround
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published August 26 and 27, 1998) In
accordance With City speCifications, bids were received and publicly opened and read on
September 15, 1998 Proposal forms were mailed to nine vendors and notices were
advertised In accordance With City Charter and MuniCipal Code proVISions Four
proposals were received as follows

This project consists of waterproofing and repamtlng the sunscreen and the exterior walls
of the CIVIC Audltonum which have not been pamted over the last fifteen years Staff
checked references and reviewed the pnce disparity of the bids submitted and feels
confident that Colorfast Waterproofing & Pamtlng Corp can provide the quality of service
required A prebld conference was held to acquaint all bidders with the scope of work

Staff has evaluated the low bid and finds that It meets City specifications
Colorfast Waterproofing & Printing Corp proVides healthcare benefits to the employees
who Will be workmg on City Jobs The employee pays approximately $40 per month and
the employer pays the remamder Painters Will be paid hourly wages rangmg from $17 -
$20 and foremen are paid $22
