A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SANTA M4NICA SUPPQRTfNG
THE SANTA MONICA-MALIBU UNIFIED
SCHOOL DISTRfCT SCHOOL BOND MEASURE
WHEREAS, the Sar~#a Mo~ica-Malibu Un~fied Schooi District is one of t#~e most
effective school dist~icts ~n the State of California, providing qua€~ty education for its
students and contributing to the overall qual~ty of Iffe of our cammur~ity, and,
WHER~.AS, the Santa Monica-Nfali~u Urnfied Sc~aal Distnct has placed a$42
million fac~hties bar~d issue to ~mpro~e aur schools. called Proposrtian X, before the voters
on the November 3, '[ 998 ballot, and,
WHEREAS, Proposition X~s smart for our chddren because it w~ll fiacilitate class size
reduction, create more space for e~richment, and accommodate classroom space for
mcreasing enrollment from dRStr~ct residents, and,
WHEREAS, Prapos~t~on X is best far our communEty because ~t w~ll pro~ide funds
~or earthquake impravemen#s, reconfigure school playgrounds and restroorns,
NOW, THEREF4RE, the City Caunc~l of the City af Santa Monica does resol~e as
follows
SECTION 1 The City of Santa Monica endorses ProposEtian X, the San#a Mon~ca-
Mal~bu Unified School Distr~ct schoof ~ond measure, and urges voters to vote yes on
ProposEtion X on November 3
SECTION 2 The City Ckerk shall c~rtify ta the adoption of this Resolut~an, ar~d
thenceforth and tf~ereafter the same shall be in full force and effec~
