I ntrod uctlon
ThiS report recommends that Council approve purchase of a fire pumper apparatus for the
Fire Suppression DIvIsion, Fire Department, m the total amount of $308,564 46, including
applicable sales tax
Backaround
The new fire pumper apparatus will replace a 1975 fire pumper apparatus which IS no
longer cost effective to repair The apparatus carnes fire hose, ground ladders and water
It IS the primary vehicle the Fire Department depends an to rapidly transport fire fighters
and equipment to an emergency scene
Staff recommends that the apparatus be purchased from KME Fire Apparatus under the
cooperative purchasmg provIsions of the Los Angeles County Purchasmg Consortium
purchase order number PP40497 dated 5-21-98/Bld T342 The County's procurement
process meets the City's criteria for Jomt purchasing under the provIsions of Section
2 24 080 of the City MUniCipal Code
