SUBJECT: RECOMMENDATION TO AWARD BID TO FURNISH AND DELIVER ONE
(1) LATE MODEL ELECTRIC POWERED STATION WAGON, BID

Introductlon
This report concerns award of bid to furnlsh and deliver one (1)
late model electric powered retrofit station wagon for the
Environmental Programs Division, City Manager's Offlce, in the
total amount of $19,112.50, including applicable sales tax.
Background
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published
september 15 and 16, 1992) to furnish and deliver one (1) late
model electric powered retrofit station wagon in accordance with
city specificatlons, blds were received and publicly opened and
read on October 12, 1992. Proposal forms were malled to eight
vendors and notices were advertised in accordance with city
Charter and Municipal Code provislons. Two proposals were
recelved as follows:
1. Solar Electric $ 19,112.50
2. Downey Auto Center $ 27,322.30

This vehicle will be used for hazardous material disclosure
ordinance inspections, underground tank inspections, permit
inspections and field site visits.
staff has evaluated the low bid and finds that it meets city
speclflcations.
BUdget/Financial Impact
Fiscal Year 1992-93 appropriation authority for this purchase is
ln the Envlronmental Programs Division, City Managers Office,
account number 31-110-662-00000-8806-00000.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2432 be made to Solar
Electric in the total amount of $19,112.50, including applicable
tax, as the lowest and best bidder.
