SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish and Deliver One
(1) New 11,000 Gross Vehicle Weight Rated Cab and
Chassis with Dump Type Stake Body, Bid #2306
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid to furnish and deliver one (1)
new 11,000 Gross Vehicle weight Rated (GVWR) Cab and Chassis with
dump type stake body for the Solid Waste Management Division,
General Services Department, in the amount of $23,430.55,
including applicable sales tax.
Background
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published
August 2 and 3, 1990) to furnish and deliver 11,000 GVWR Cab and
Chassis with dump type stake body in accordance with city
specifications, bids were received and publicly opened and read
on August 23, 1990. Proposal forms were mailed to eleven vendors
and notices were advertised in accordance with city Charter and
Municipal Code provisions. Two proposals were received as
follows:

Propane Powered Vehicle
Crenshaw Motors $23,430.55
Santa Monica Ford $26,191.11
Bids were requested for "alternate fuel (propane)" powered
vehicles in accordance with the Air Quality Management District
requirements to comply with clean air standards. staff has
evaluated the low bid and finds that it meets city
specifications.
BUdget/Financial Impact
Fiscal Year 1990/91 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the Capital Improvement Program budget, account number
27-710-441-20291-8914-99005, "Refuse Vehicle Replacement. II
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2306 be made to Crenshaw
Motors in the amount of $23,430.55, including applicable tax, as
the lowest and best bidder.
