SUBJECT: Recommendation to Reject Bid to Furnish and Deliver
One (I) New and Unused 3/4 Ton Cab and Chassis with
Crane, Bid 2310
Introduction
This report concerns rejection of bid to furnish and deliver
One (1) New and Unused 3/4 Ton Cab and Chassis with Crane for the
water Division, General Services Department.
Background
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published
September 10 and 11, 1990) to furnish and deliver One (1) New and
Unused 3/4 Ton Cab and Chassis with Crane in accordance with city
specifications, bids were received and publicly opened and read
on October 2, 1990. Proposal forms were mailed to fourteen
vendors and notices were advertised in accordance with city
Charter and Municipal Code provisions. Four proposals were
received as follows:
Reynolds Buck GMC $24/575.99
Santa Monica Ford $25/222.89
Downey Auto Center $25,490.83
cummings Buick-GMC Truck $26,357.88 6-J+.

staff has evaluated the bids and find that they substantially
exceed the amount budgeted in the FY 1990/91 budget. Staff
wishes to revise the specifications to exclude the crane
requirement and rebid the 3/4 ton cab and chassis. staff will be
using an existing crane from a surplus vehicle to meet previous
crane requirement.
Recommendation
It is recommended that all bids on Bid #2310 be rejected and
staff be directed to rebid the requirement.
