Subject: Resolution Establishing parking Zones for the
Physically Handicapped Adjacent te 1003 Michigan
Avenue and 2111 Ashland Avenue
Introduction
This report recommends that the City council approve the attached
resolution to establish parking zones for the physically
handicapped adjacent to 1003 Michigan Avenue and 2111 Ashland
Avenue.
Backqround
On May 27, 1980, the City council adopted an ordinance to enable
the establishment of parking zones for the physically
handicapped. Under this ordinance such a zone may be established
by resolution of the City Council upon request by an individual
and verification by the City Parking and Traffic engineer.
Staff has received two requests for the installation of
physically handicapped zones as follows:
1) A resident is requesting installation of a parking zone
for the physically handicapped adjacent to 1003 Michigan
Avenue,

2) A resident is requesting installation of a parking zone
for the physically handicapped adjacent to 2111 Ashland
Avenue.
Staff has reviewed the requests and finds that the zones meet all
the appropriate requirements.
Budqet/Financial Impact
There is no budget or fiscal impact resulting from this request.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the City council adopt the attached
resolution estalishing parking zones for the physically
handicapped adjacent to 1003 Michigan Avenue and 2111 Ashland
Avenue.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA MONICA ESTABLISHING A PHYSICALLY HANDICAPPED
ZONE ADJACENT TO 1003 MICHIGAN AVENUE AND 2111
ASHLAND AVENUE
WHEREAS, the City Council of the city of Santa
Monica has enacted an ordinance enabling individuals to request
parking zones for physically handicapped person; and
WHEREAS, the City has received requests for parking
zones for the physically handicapped; and
WHEREAS, the Parking and Traffic Engineer has
considered the request and concluded, based upon the factors
stated in Municipal Code Section 3366A, that a physically
handicapped zone may be installed at the requested locations,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITy OF
SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. A zone for the physically handicapped is
hereby established adjacent to 1003 Michigan Avenue.
SECTION 2. A zone for the physically handicapped is
hereby established adjacent to 2111 Ashland Avenue.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the
same shall be in full force and effect.
