IntroductIon
This report concerns an award of bid to furnish and deliver one (1) high power hydrauhc
sewer rodder for the Wastewater DIvIsion, Environmental and Public Works Management
Department, In the total amount of $73,371 85, Including applicable sales tax
BackgrQund
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published May 29 and 30, 1997) to furnIsh
and deliver one (1) high power hydraulic sewer rodder In accordance with City
specifications, bids were received and publicly opened and read on August 4, 1997
Proposal forms were mailed to five vendors and notices were advertIsed In accordance
with City Charter and MUnicipal Code provIsions Three proposals were received as
follows

This vehicle will be used In the Wastewater DIVISion to clean and remove obstruction In
City storm and sewer lines It will replace a 1984 sewer redder that IS scheduled for
replacement under the vehicle management program
Staff recommends a gasohne-powered sewer redder because there are no companies that
manufacture CNG-powered sewer rodders The purchase of this gasoline-powered sewer
redder IS consistent with the City'S reduced emissions fuel policy There IS no California
Air Resources Board (CAR B) approved conversion kit available for this vehicle at this time
Staff has evaluated the low bId and finds that It meets City specifications

total amount of $73,371 85, Including applicable tax, as the lowest responsible bidder
