Introduction
This report concerns an award of bid to furmsh and deliver twelve hundred (1,200) tons of
high performance asphalt cold miX for the Water DIvIsion, Environmental and Public Works
Management Department, at specified unit pnces Including applicable sales tax.

In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published May 28, 29, 1996) to furnish and
deliver twelve hundred (1,2001 tons of hIgh-performance asphalt cold mix In accordance With
City specifications, bids were received and publicly opened and read on June 10, 1996
Proposal forms were mailed to three vendors and notices were advertised In accordance With
City Charter and Municipal Code prOVIsions Three proposals were received as follows,

The asphalt cold mix will be used to patch holes In the City's streets to fill In trenches and
areas that have been excavated
Staff has evaluated the low bId and finds that It meets CIty speCIfIcatIons.
Budqet/Flnanclal Impact
Fiscal Year 1995-96 appropriation authOrity for this purchase IS In the Capital Improvement
Program Budget, account number 25-760-671-20097-8900-99136, "Water Fund." The
estimated annual expenditure IS $78,000.
Recommendation
It IS recommended that the award of Bid #2574 be made to Absolute Asphalt Company at
specified Unit prices, Includmg applicable tax.
