Introduction
This report concerns award of bid to prOVide and deliver hot asphalt concrete paving
mIxes for the Street Maintenance DIvIsion, Environmental and Public Works
Management Department, at specified umt prices, plus applicable sales tax with a one
year renewal option Estimated annual expenditure 15 $100,000.

In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published July 31 and August 1, 1996)
to provide and deliver hot asphalt concrete pavmg mixes In accordance with City
speCifications, bIds were received and publicly opened and read on August 19, 1996.
Proposal forms were mailed to four vendors and notices were advertised In
accordance WIth City Charter and MUnicipal Code prOVISions. Two proposals were
received as follows:

The paving mixes will be used to repair City streets.
Industrial Asphalt IS the low bidder on four of the five Items. It IS not economically
feasIble to split the bId. Staff has evaluated their bId and finds that It meets City
specifications.
Budget/Financial Impact
Fiscal Year 1996-97 appropriation authority for this purchase IS In the Street
Mamtenance DIvIsion, Environmental and Public Works Management Department,
account number 01-500-421-00000-4414-00000.
Recommendation
It IS recommended that the award of Bid #2591 be made to Industrial Asphalt at
speCified Unit prices, plus applicable tax, and a one year renewal option, as the lowest
responsible bidder.
