This report concerns an award of bid to proVide remanufactured Allison transmissions
for the Transportation Department, at speCified Unit pnces, plus applicable sales tax,
and two one-year renewal options Estimated annual expenditure IS $75,000

In response to published Notices InvIting Bids (published August 16 and 17, 1996) to
proVide remanufactured Allison transmiSSions In accordance with City speCifications,
bids were received and publicly opened and read on August 28, 1996 Proposal forms
were mailed to four vendors and notices were advertIsed In accordance with City
Charter and MUnlclpal Code provIsions Two proposals were received as follows
VENDOR PRICE PER TRANSMISSION
S & J Chevrolet $3,895.00
Valley Detroit Diesel Allison $4,050 00
These transmissions are used In the City'S buses As transmissions become

Staff has evaluated the low bid and finds that It meets City specifications

Component Replacement Program"
Recommendation
It IS recommended that the award of Bid #2594 be made to S & J Chevrolet at speCified
Unit pnces plus applicable tax, wIth two one-year renewal options, as the lowest
responsible bidder
