the Use C)f the Santa MonIca CIVIC AuditOrium East Wing on October 28,
1996 for the League of Women Voters of Santa Monica Proposition 209
California Civil Rights Initiative Forum
Introduction
This report recommends that City CounCil waive the Santa Monica CIVIC AuditOrium
East Wing rental and parking fees for a public forum on Proposition 209 sponsored
by the League of Women voters of Santa MOnica scheduled for October 28, 1996.
Discussion
The League of Women Voters of Santa MOnica wishes to hold an educational public
service forum on Monday, October 28, 1996 In the CIVIC AuditOrium East Wing The
speakers Will address both Sides of the Issues relative to PropOSition 209, the
California CIvil Rights Initiative, which appears on the November 1996 ballot
Many community organizations including the National Conference of Christians and
Jews (NCCJ), Santa MOnica College, YWCA, and the League of United Latin American
Citizens (LULAC) CounCil 2010 Will be co-sponsonng this non-partisan event

City staff has determined that the CIVIC Auditorium East Wing IS available on the date
requested
Financial/Budaet Imoact

The value of the waived rental IS $500 and parking IS estimated at $1,100 labor and
equipment costs will be paid by the league of Women Voters of Santa Monica
Recommendations
It IS recommended that the City Council waive the rental and parking fees associated
with the use of the CIVIC Auditorium East Wing for the league of Women Voters of
Santa MOnica for the Proposition 209 public forum on October 28, 1996.
