SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish and Deliver
2-Cubic Yard Metal Refuse Contalners, Bid #2585
Introduction
Thls report concerns award of bid to furnish and deliver 2-cubic
yard metal refuse containers for the Solid Waste Division,
Environmental and Public Works Management Department, at specified
unit prices, plus applicable sales tax
Estimated annual usage is
approxlmately $65,000.
Background
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published June 27
and June 28, 1996) to furnish and deliver 2-Cubic Yard metal Refuse
Containers in accordance with City specifications, bids were
received and publicly opened and read on July 31, 1996. Proposal
forms were malled to two vendors and notlces were advertised in
accordance with City Charter and Municipal Code provisions. Two
proposals were received as follows:

These units will be used as replacements for those which are worn
by age or are no longer repairable or serviceable.
Staff has evaluated the low bid and finds that it meets City
speclficatlons.

Flscal Year 1996-97 appropr~ation authority for this purchase 1S
in the Solid Waste Management Dlvls10nl Environmental and Public
Works Management Department, account number 27-500-441-00000-4425-
00000.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2585 be made to
Consolidated Fabrlcators at specified unit pricesl plus applicable
sales tax, as the lowest and best bidder.
