- - -- Innovative stormwater collection and treatment systems can help the City attain stormwater management goals by treating the first flush of each rain event and reducing peak flows through infiltration and evaporation These self-contained systems Incorporate sedimentation, filtration, and treatment with vegetation within modular units The City Yard SIte offers a unique opportumty for a pilot program to test the removal effIciencies for a range of pollutants by these types of systems BUDGET/FINANCIAL IMPACT The total cost for the purchase, Installation, and project management of thiS system IS estimated to be $75,000, with an estImated annual operations and maintenance cost of $1,500 The City IS required to provide a 15% match equaling $11,250 The grant application IS requesting a total of $63,750 for a total of $75,000 The match requirements can be met through providing In-kind services such as project management, surveYing and constructIOn supervIsIon Annual operatIons and mamtenance fmanclng are avaIlable In account number 31-500-661-00000-6663-00000 RECOMMENDATION It IS recommended that the City Council adopt the attached resolution authorizing the application for grant funds for a pilot project demonstrating the effectiveness of an urban runoff pollution abatement system Prepared by Craig Perkins, Director of EnVironmental & Public Works Management John Mundy, Utilities Manager BIIII Romain, Stormwater Coordinator 3 ~-~- -~- -
