Introduction
This report recommends an award of bid to proVide pickup, rebuild, and delivery of
generators, starters, alternators, and condenser motors for the Maintenance DIVISion,
Transportation Department, at speCified umt prices, Including, applicable sales tax
Background
In response to published Notices Inviting B,ds (published January 20 and 21, 1998) In
accordance With City speCifications, bids were received and publicly opened and read on
February 5, 1998 Proposal forms were maIled to five vendors and notices were
advertised In accordance With City Charter and MUnicipal Code prOVISions Five proposals
were received as follows

The low bid submitted by Carter Company IS non-responsive because they excluded two
products (Leece-Neville Air Conditioning Alternators and Condenser Motors) from the bid
proposal These parts are used by the Transportation Maintenance DIvIsIon for repairs to
City vehIcles
Staff has evaluated the next low bid submitted by Warren Dlstnbutmg, Inc and finds that It
meets City speCifications
