During the 1991-92 budget process, City Council appropriated
funds for the replacement of the Moss Avenue Pump station
emergency generator, the installation of one emergency generator
at Arcadia Water Treatment Plant and one emergency generator at
Charnock Well Fields.
The Moss Avenue Pump station pumps
portions of wastewater collected in Santa Monica to the City of
Los Angeles. The wastewater is then transported by a series of
other pump stations and gravity to the Hyperion Treatment Plant.
The existing emergency generator at Moss Avenue Pump station is
over 15 years old and must be replaced.

The Arcadia Water Treatment Plant and, Charnock Wells and Booster
Pumps operate with electric pumps. There is no back up system at
these sites and the new diesel powered emergency generators will
allow for continued pumping of water during the loss of
electrical power.
