In {;,) djj To: Mayor and Clty Council From: Clty Staff SubJect: Recommendation to Award a Contract to the Paul Gardner Corporation for the Installatlon of the Mid-block Pedestrian Signals on 4th street between Broadway and Wl1shlre Boulevard Introduction This report requests that the City Council award a contract in the aMount of $128,686.00 to the Paul Gardner Corporation, the lmvest responsible bidder, for the installation of the three Mld-block pedestrian slgnals on 4th street between Broadway and Wilshlre Boulevard. Discussion In January 1992, the City Council approved the installation of three Mid-block Pedestrian signals on 4th Street between Broadway and Hilshlre Boulevard. The slgnals will be similar to the mld-block crossing on Main street at the Edgernar development. Followlng the published advertlsments, biddlng packages for the lnstallatlon of these signals were requested by four (4) contractors. BUdqet/Financial Impact Funds requlred: Contract $128,686.00 Contlngencies (10%) 12,869.00 Contract Total $141,555.00 Funds ($144,000.00) have been appropriated at Capital Improvement ProJect account #01-770-415-20092-8900-99343 for this project. Recommendation It 15 recommended that the city Council: 1. Award a contract to the Paul Gardner corporation, the lowest responslble bidder, in the amount of $128,686.00 for the 1nstallat1on of the Midblock pedestrian Signals on 4th street between Broadway and Wilshire Boulevardi and 2. Authorize the Clty Parking and Traffic Engineer to issue any change orders necessary to complete additlonal work to the extent of funds avallable in accordance with the Adnlnistrative Instructlon on Change Orders.
