Olivette Reservoir site INTRODUCTION This report recommends that city council award a contract for the installation of landscape irrigation systems at virginia Avenue Park, Pacific Park, Arcadia Treatment Plant, and Mt. Olivette Reservoir to Liquid Flow Engineering, Inc. , the lowest responsible bidder, in the amount of $57,700.00 BACKGROUND During the 1991-92 budget process, City Council appropriated funding for various park irrigation improvements. At Virginia Park, the sprinkler heads, irrigation wire, and control valves will be replaced due to deterioration of the existing system. At Pacific Park, the existing manual system will be replaced with a fully automatic irrigation system. At the Arcadia Treatment Plant, a portion of the existing irrigation system will be replaced with an automatic irrigation system. At the Mt. Olivette Reservoir site, a new below grade permanent irrigation system on the east side of Franklin Street will replace the existing temporary surface irrigation system. The existing controller will be relocated to the recently completed telemetry building. 6-L - 1 - No' I iMl. ",,' v All of these systems are designed to more efficiently and effectively irrigate the various areas. A Notice Inviting Bids was published on February 2 and 3, 1993 in The Outlook, as well as four construction journals. Bidding documents were sent to seven Women/Minority Business Enterprise associations. Bidding packages were requested by 14 contractors. The City Clerk's Office received 5 sealed bids. On March 1, 1993, the sealed bids were publicly opened and read aloud by the Deputy City Clerk. The bids results were as follows: BIDDER Liquid Flow Engineering, Inc. City Engineer's Estimate........$ 85,000 AMOUNT $ 57,700 $ 65,200 $ 78,840 $ 89,200 $ 100,850 The low bidder, Liquid Flow Engineering, Inc., supplied the city with references and all references reported that the contractor's work was satisfactory. Olivette Reservoir to Liquid Flow Engineering, Inc., the lowest responsible bidder, in the amount of $57,700.00, and 2} Authorize the City Engineer to issue any necessary change orders to complete additional work in conformance with the Administrative Instruction on change orders.
