SUBJECT: Recommendation to Adopt an Amended Resolution to Add
completion Dates Relating to the Placement of Electric
Power Lines Underground in Certain Areas of the city
Introduction
This report requests that City council amend Resolution No. 8317
(CCS) to add needed completion dates relating to the placement of
electric power lines underground in certain areas of the city.
Background
Resolution No. 8317 (CCS) was adopted by City Council on October
29, 1991, following a public hearing to approve placement of
electric power lines underground in certain areas of the City.
Subsequent to adopting the resolution, staff noticed that the
completion dates for the placement of the electric power lines,
had been inadvertently omitted from the Resolution.
The City
Attorney's office advised that the resolution could be amended to
reflect the required completion dates.
staff has revised Section 6 of Resolution No. 8317 (CCS), adding
the needed completion dates for the two districts and are
resubmitting the amended resolution for approval.
The work in
District 1 is to be completed prior to October 1, 1993 and the
work in District 2 is to be completed prior to October 1, 1994.

The attached Resolution provides the specific boundaries of each
district.
Budget/Financial Impact
The recommendation presented in this report has no budget or
fiscal impact.
Reconunendation
It is respectfully recommended that city council approve the
attached resolution amending Resolution No. 8317(CCS).

(CITY COUNCIL SERIES)
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA MONICA AMENDING RESOLUTION
NO. 8317 (CCS), AND ADDING COMPLETION DATES
FOR THE PLACEMENT OF ELECTRIC POWER LINES
UNDERGROUND IN CERTAIN AREAS OF THE CITY
WHEREAS, the proposed improvement of areas known as
District 1, Fourteenth Street between Pearl street and Ocean
Boulevard and Dlstrict 2, Olympic Boulevard between Fifth street
and Eleventh Street including the Lincoln Boulevard on and off
ramps to the Santa Monica Freeway by undergrounding of utillties
and appurtenant work were approved on October 29, 1991 by
Resolution Number 8317 (CCS); and
WHEREAS, on October 29, 1991, the City Council voted to
establish these underground utility dlstricts pursuant to
Resolution Number 8317 (CCS); and
WHEREAS, Resolution Number 8317 (CCS) inadvertently
failed to include dates for the completion of work in Districts 1
and 2,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA
MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1.
Resolution Number 8317 (CCS) is amended as
follows:

Sectlon 6.
The city Council hereby orders that work ln District 1
be completed prior to October 1, 1993 and that the work
in D1strict 2 be completed prior to October 1, 1994.
SECTION 2.
The City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this Resolution, and thenceforth and thereafter the
same shall be 1n full force and effect.
