Introduction This report recommends that the city council approve the attached resolution to establish parking zones for the disabled adjacent to 2602 22nd street, 1617 Berkeley street, and 1818 Oak street. Backqround On May 27, 1980, the city council adopted an ordinance to enable the establishment of parking zones for the disabled. Under this ordinance such a zone may be established by resolution of the city Council upon request by an individual and verification by the city Parking and Traffic Engineer. Staff has received requests from residents for the installation of disabled parking zones adjacent to 2602 22nd street, 1617 Berkeley street, and 1818 Oak street. Staff has reviewed the request and finds that the zones meet all the appropriate requirements. Prepared by: Paul Berlant, Director of Land Use & Transportation Management Ron Fuchiwaki, City Parking & Traffic Engineer Attachment: Resolution - 2 - RESOLUTION NUMBER 8343(CCS) (CITY COUNCIL SERIES) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA ESTABLISHING DISABLED PARKING ZONES ADJACENT TO 2602 22ND STREET, 1617 BERKELEY STREET, AND 1818 OAK STREET WHEREAS, the City Counc~l of the City of Santa Monica has enacted an ord1nance enabling individuals to request parking zones for disabled persons; and WHEREAS, the city has received requests for park~ng zones for the disabled; and WHEREAS, the Parking and Traffic Engineer has cons1dered the requests and concluded, based upon the factors stated in Munic~pal Code Section 3366A, that disabled parking zones may be ~nstalled at the requested locations, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION l. That parking zones for the d1sabled are hereby established adjacent to 2602 22nd Street, 1617 Berkeley street, and 1818 Oak street. SECTION 2. The c~ty Clerk shall certify to the adoption of th~s Resolut1on, and thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be 1n full force and effect. APPROVED AS TO FORM: '.
