Background In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published October 10 and 11, 1991) to furnish and deliver two (2) new light utility pickup trucks in accordance with City specifications, bids were received and publicly opened and read on November 22, 1991. Proposal forms were mailed to sixteen vendors and notices were advertised in accordance with city Charter and Municipal Code prOVisions. Propane fueling facilities currently exist and no further modification to the vehicle is required. City staff is moving toward Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) powered vehicles, however, there are no CNG fueling facilities currently available in or near Santa Monica. These vehicles will be used for maintenance of beach grounds and to carry miscellaneous equipment, tools, litter and rubble. Staff has evaluated the low bid and finds that it meets City specifications. BUdget/Financial Impact Fiscal Year 1991/92 appropriation authority for this purchase is in the Beach Maintenance Division, Cultural and Recreation services Department, account number 11-400-521-00000-8806-00000.
