SUBJECT: Recommendation to Award Bid to Furnish and Deliver
Two (2) New Light Utility Pickup Trucks, Bid #2388
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid to furnish and deliver two (2)
new light utility pickup trucks for the Beach Maintenance
Division, Cultural and Recreation Services Department, in the
total amount of $16,140.08, including applicable sales tax.
Background
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published
October 10 and 11, 1991) to furnish and deliver two (2) new light
utility pickup trucks in accordance with City specifications,
bids were received and publicly opened and read on November 22,
1991. Proposal forms were mailed to sixteen vendors and notices
were advertised in accordance with city Charter and Municipal
Code prOVisions. Two proposals were received as follows:

This acquisition conforms with the City's policy of alternative
fuel vehicles. It will be propane powered. Propane fueling
facilities currently exist and no further modification to the
vehicle is required. City staff is moving toward Compressed
Natural Gas (CNG) powered vehicles, however, there are no CNG
fueling facilities currently available in or near Santa Monica.
These vehicles will be used for maintenance of beach grounds and
to carry miscellaneous equipment, tools, litter and rubble.
Staff has evaluated the low bid and finds that it meets City
specifications.
BUdget/Financial Impact
Fiscal Year 1991/92 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the Beach Maintenance Division, Cultural and Recreation
services Department, account number 11-400-521-00000-8806-00000.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2388 be made to
A A Equipment in the total amount of $16,140.08, inclUding
applicable tax, as the lowest and best bidder.
