Truck with Dump Bed,
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid to furnish and deliver one (1)
new 3/4 Ton pickup Truck with Dump Bed for the Tree Maintenance
Division, Cultural and Recreation Services Department, in the
total amount of $17,196.16, including applicable sales tax.
Background
In response to published Notices Inviting Bids (published
October 10 and 11, 1991) to furnish and deliver one (1) new 3/4
Ton Pickup Truck with Dump Bed in accordance with city
specifications, bids were received and publicly opened and read
on October 28, 1991.
Proposal forms were mailed to fifteen
vendors and notices were advertised in accordance with City
Charter and Municipal Code provisions.

This acquisition conforms with the City's policy of alternative
fuel vehicles. It will be propane powered. Propane fuel ing
facilities currently exist and no further modification to the
vehicle is required. City staff is moving toward Compressed
Na tural Gas (CNG) powered vehicles, however, there are no CNG
fueling facilities currently available in or near Santa Monica.
This vehicle will be used for hauling equipment and debris.
Staff has evaluated the low bid and finds that it meets City
specifications.
BUdget/Financial Impact
Fiscal Year 1991/92 appropriation authority for this purchase is
in the Tree Maintenance Division, cultural and Recreation
Services Department, account number 01-400-512-00000-8806-00000
($16,975.52) and 01-400-512-00000-8801-00000 ($220.64).
Recommendation
It is recommended that the award of Bid #2387 be made to Santa
Monica Ford in the total amount of $17,196.16, including
applicable tax, as the lowest and best bidder.
