SUBJECT: Adoption of Resolution Establishing Salary Rates for Code Compliance
OffIcer, NutritIon SIte SpeCialist and Commumty ServIces SpeCialist "I
INTRODUCTION
This report requests adoption of the attached salary resolution establishing salary rates
for Code Compliance Officer, NutntlOn SIte SpeCialist and Community Services
Speclalrst Ill. The Personnel Board has reviewed and approved all of the new and
reVised classification specifications.
BACKGROUND
The Personnel Department penodlcally reviews Job classifications to ensure they reflect
current duties and responsibilities Recently, the classification of Code Compliance
Officer was reVised to more accurately reflect the current dutIes and responsibilities
of thiS positron ThiS posrtlon was also retitled There will be no change In the salary
level established for thiS position.
The Job classifications of Nutrition Site SpeCialist and Community Services Speclalrst
III were studied for compensation changes only. The salary recommendations are
based on external and internal equity alignment factors.

BUDGET/FINANCIAL IMPACT
Adoption of the attached salary resolution will have no financial Impact because
recommended salary levels are conSistent with salary rates contained In the Fiscal Year
1997-98 budget, including retroactive Implementation of the Community Services
Specialist III salary rate to Fiscal Year 1996-97
RECOMMENDATIONS
It IS recommended that the City Councll adopt the attached salary resolution
establishing the new salary rates for Code Compliance Officer, Nutrition Site Specialist
and Community Services Specialist III.

CLASSIFICATIONS AND ADOPTING SALARY RATES
FOR CODE COMPLIANCE OFFICER, NUTRITION SITE SPECIALIST
AND COMMUNITY SERVICES SPECIALIST III
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MONICA DOES RESOLVE AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The following hourly salary levels are hereby established, effectIve
July 1, 1997, for the Indicated permanent clasSification:
CODE COMPLIANCE OFFICER
$3,856/Month E-Step
($4, 125/Month With PERS)
SECTION 2 The followmg hourly salary levels are hereby established, effective
July 1, 1997, for the Indicated temporary claSSificatiOn"
NUTRITION SITE SPECIALIST
$6.92/hr A-Step
$7.26/hr B-Step
$7.68/hr. C-Step
$8.11/hr. D-Step
$8.54/hr. E-Step
SECTION 3. The followmg monthly salary level IS hereby established for the
indicated permanent classification effective July 1, 1996:
COMMUNITY SERVICES SPECIALIST III
$2,328/Month E-Step
(2,491/Month With PERS)
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certIfy to the adoption of thIs Resolution, and
thenceforth and thereafter the same shall be In full force and effect.
