SUBJECT Recommendation to Award Bid to Provide Pump and Water
Well Repair and Maintenance Services, Bid #2648
Introduction
This report concerns award of bid to provide Pump and Water Well Repair and
Maintenance Services for the Water Division, Environmental and Public Works
Management Department, at specIfied Unit pnces, plus applicable sales tax, with two one-
year renewal options
Backoround
In response to published Notices InvIting BIds (published June 13 and June 16, 1997) to
proVide Pump and Water Well Repair and Maintenance Services m accordance wIth City
specifications, bids were received and publicly opened and read on June 23, 1997
Proposal forms were maIled to two vendors and nohces were advertIsed In accordance
with City Charter and MUnicipal Code provIsions Two proposals were received as set
forth on the attached table (Exhibit A)
ThiS IS a highly specialized SeNtee whIch reqUires expertise and portable eqUipment to
fulfill the City's maintenance requirements

It IS necessary that the City select two quahfled vendors available to cover an emergency
sItuation because one vendor might not be available when needed
Therefore, staff recommends that award be made to both bidders at specified unrt prrces
Staff WIll contact the vendor with the lowest hourly rate at the time service IS needed If
the vendor IS unable to perform, staff will contact the alternate vendor
Budget/Financial Impact
Fiscal Year 1997-98 appropnatlon authonty for this purchase is In the Water DIvIsion,
Environmental and Public Works Management Department, account number 25-500-671-
00000-5501-00000 The estImated annual expenditure IS $300,000 00

Beyhck Dnlhn9 Inc at specified umt pnces plus applicable tax wIth two one-year renewal
