I ntraductlon
This report recommends that City Council authorize a contribution In support of the
Summer Semmar presented by the Independent Cities ASSOCiation (ICA)
DIScussion
Santa MOnica IS a member of the Independent Cities ASSOCiation (ICA) On July 10-13,
1997 the ICA Will convene ItS 37th annual Summer Seminar where the theme Will be
"Everyday Solutions to Complex Problems" Mayor Pro Tempore Holbrook IS the current
preSident of ICA and seminar chairperson This places the City In the Informal role of
conference host and It would be appropnate to make a contribution to ICA to support the
Summer Semmar Staff believes a contrrbutlon of $5,000 would be approprrate
Budaet and Flnanclallmoact
Funds are avarlable In the non-departmental account (01-700-274-00000-7785-00000)
Recommendation
Staff recommends that the City Council authorize a $5,000 contribution to the leA In
support of Its summer seminar
