Introduction
Thrs report recommends that the CIty CouncIl award a contract for the construction of curb
ramps at various locations to C J Construction Inc I the lowest responsible bidder, In the
amount of $90.560 The Improvements are to be made at vanous curb locations
throughout the CIty and at downtown Parking Structures #2, #3, and #4

I n accordance With the Americans With DisabilitIes Act of 1991 (ADA), the City has Initiated
a plan for compliance With the ADA requirements throughout the City The scope of work
Includes the installation of curb ramps at vanous locations, and the constructIon and
modlflcatJon of concrete pathways and miscellaneous ADA reqUIred modifIcatIOns at
downtown Parking Structures #2, #3, and #4
The ADA requires that bUildings, structures, Sidewalks, curbs and related faCIlities be
acceSSIble and usable by the dIsabled ReqUirements of thIS act Include keeping an
unobstructed path of travel through a public nght of way or to a public faCIlity, a minimum

A NotIce Invltmg BIds was published on May 15 and 16, 1997 In The Outlook Bidding
documents were sent to SIX (6) woman/mlnonty-owned business enterpnse assOciations
Bidding packages were requested by eIght (8) contractors The City Clerk's office received
five (5) sealed bids. which were publicly opened and read aloud on June 3, 1997 by the
Deputy City Clerk

Recommendation

addltronal work In conformance wIth the AdminIstratIve InstructIons on change
orders
