Introduction

The Santa Monica Municipal Code in a number of Sections regarding
Public Works, sets fees by ordinance. Many of these fees are in need
of review as they have not been changed for ten years or more. It is
desirable to change the structure of the ordinance so that these fees may
be set by resolution.
Background
Several Sections of the Mun1cipal Code which set Public Works fees are
in need of change to reflect current costs. Rather than hold public
hearings and go through the cumbersome procedure required for ordinance
changes, it is desired by staff that these fees be set by resolution and
that the ordinance be changed in a general way so that all pub11c works
fees will be set by resolution.
Recoll1llendation
It 1S recommended that the City Council direct the City Attorney to pre-
pare necessary ordinance changes in the Municipal Code to set all Public
Works fees by resolution.
